"Round and juicy, this is a bit compact for now, but the core of blanched almond, papaya, pear and Jonagold apple is waiting in reserve. The long, juicy finish delivers another wave of fruit with buried minerality. Best from 2009 through 2015. 605 cases made." -Wine Spectator

"Bright yellow. Tightly wound nose slowly unfolds to offer zesty citrus pith and mineral nuances, along with a gentle floral quality. Racy lemon and green apple flavors show good depth and excellent finishing lift. I love this emphatically brisk, nervy style of Condrieu." -91 points- Josh Raynolds- International Wine Cellar

This wine also received a median of 92 points on Cellar Tracker. See the reviews here: http://www.cellartracker.com//wine.asp?iWine=420840

100% Viognier. Condrieu is from the French word "coin de ruisseau" meaning corner of the brook.

Le Grand Vallon Vineyard is planted on the coveted granitic soils of the AOC. Francois likes a little botrytis whenever possible to add balance and richness to his wines. There was less than 10% botrytis in 2006. He raises this particular cuvee in 30% new French oak. The rest of the wine goes in older barrels.

Condrieu became an AOC in 1940. There are only roughly 130 hectares of vineyards planted here with yields averaging 35-37 hectoliters per hectare, so there's very little wine produced.
