"This is easily the best vintage of this to date! Bzikot is a lively, fuller bodied white of great purity and density. Well balanced with notes of pear, peach and delicate spice notes. Excellent balance. Great to drink now or cellar." -Importer
WINERY:
"Winemaker Sylvain Bzikot has managed this 3 generation family domaine since 1991. Domaine Bzikot extends over 14 hectares and 7 different appellations. The vines in Domaine Bzikot are all centered in the town of Puligny-Montrachet. The soils are predominantly limestone-clay mixed with small stones, with good drainage. These soils are favorable to white wine production and the average age of the vines is 40 years old. This Puligny-Montrachet can age for 5 to 8 years." -Winery; translated by KM
WINEMAKER:
"Sylvain Bzikot, the grandson of Polish immigrants, is a huge man. Broad-shouldered, cauliflower-eared, muscle-bound, and reeking power, he was getting ready for a rugby match when I visited him. The wines resemble the man. Readers desiring ageworthy, lace-like, refined, delicate, and elegant Pulignys are advised to look elsewhere. These are rich, full-bodied, expansive, broad, and mouth-coating wines made for near-term drinking." -Pierre Rovani's notes on the 1996 Puligny Montrachet Les Folatieres
