91 Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2005 Via Edetana is 33% Garnacha, 33% Garnacha Peluda, and 34% Carinena aged for 10 months in French oak. Purple-colored, it delivers an enticing bouquet of earth, mineral, blueberry, and black cherry. This is followed by an elegant wine with layers of spicy fruit, light tannin, and excellent balance. Already offering complexity, it should continue to evolve for 2 to 3 years and drink well through 2020."
"($25; one-third each of garnacha, garnacha peluda and carinena) Inky ruby. Intensely perfumed nose offers a spicy array of dark berries, flowers, smoky minerals and pungent herbs. Fresh, silky black raspberry and cherry flavors coat the palate, which shows good smoky mineral lift on the back. Gains sweetness and depth on the long, sappy finish. This is delicious." - 90 Points- Josh Raynolds- International Wine Cellar
WINERY:
"Edetaria, is a project that began in Terra Alta with Joan Angel Lliberia, who decided to produce high quality estate bottled wines from his family owned vineyards. The cellar, built in 2003, is integrated into a stunning landscape surrounded by vineyards, and mountains. Edetaria owns 24 hectares of vineyards. A high percentage of these are old vineyards of over 50 years old, and the rest are between 20 and 25 years old. Edetaria is the result of the combination of the traditional grape varieties of the region (garnacha blanca, garnacha peluda, garnacha negra, cariñena), cabernet sauvignon and merlot."
"Because the vineyards are the most important part of our wine making, Edetaria only produces wine from its own vineyards. Our aim is to lower yields and thereby produce excellent grapes which truly express their personality. At Edetaria, our aim is to produce unique wines which are not slaves to fashion and express the full potential of the terroir and the grapes from which they are made." -Importer
WINE:
"The vines are an average of 30 to 40 years old. The vineyards are located between 300 to 500 meters above sea level. The grapes maintain skin contact for between 20 and 30 days, and use either pump-over or pushing down methods according to grape variety and the nature of the vintage. After this each wine is aged by grape variety for around 12 months in 300 liter French oak before being blended and bottled. Combination of aromas; red and sweet fruits, a touch of liquor and balsamic. Full body, sweet-toothed. Long and persistent end with sweet and balanced tannins."
