"The 2011 Marques de Gelida Xarello, from a parcel of 60-year-old vines, is fermented in French oak barrels and sees 25% of the crop aged for five months in French oak. There is a lot of varietal expression, with pear skin, bruised apple and herbaceous aromas that have good lift. The palate is well-balanced, with touches of white peach and fresh pear on the entry, the judicious use of oak lending the finish the volume and length it needs without impeding the fruit profile. This is extremely well-made for the price. Drink now-2014."
