About

Rating:

95

"This white has the structure and class of a premier cru Burgundy with lots of sliced apples, pears and fresh pineapple. Full body and very intense - goes on for minutes. The grapes underwent cold maceration for four days before pressing. No malolactic fermentation. It was aged in new French oak barrels for 12 months. 3000 bottles made. Drink or hold." (08/13)

That is quite a statement!

A spectacular find from Portugal, this is a steal at just $24.98 per bottle, this may turn out to be quite a big discovery for many of you!

The tasting notes on this stunning 95 Point effort were hard to ignore. Even for those of you who drink 90% red wine, there are often occasions where white wine is needed around the house. Today's offering represents a fantastic buy for those of you who fit this bill. A full bodied white with plenty of character, great structure and above all, something a little different than the normal Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.

More about this winery:
"In 1998 the future partners and winemakers of Quanta Terra Winery, Jorge Alves and Celso Pereira, began to select the ideal soils, locations for vines, grafts, exposure, altitude, slope, grapes, vine age, and more for their new vineyard. They understood that the character of wine is determined by the quality of the land where it is produced, and the choice of land is determined by man. After a long selection process, Alves and Pereira chose a location for Quanta Terra Winery in Tralhão, within the Douro Superior region. The company was officially founded in 1999." - Winery

This wine also scored 89 Points WS and 88 Points WA!
