"The 2010 Pape this year is a blend of Touriga Nacional from Castro’s Outeiro vines and Baga from Quinta da Pellada. This is a very nice Pape this year, complex, well integrated and very serious. With some of the same grace and subtlety of the Jaen reviewed this issue, it adds another layer or two of depth and a little tension, plus an earthy note that gives it character. Beautifully balanced and likely to become even more harmonious in a short while, it is approachable now and should get considerably better over the next few years. It lingers rather nicely on the finish. This is lovely—another Burgundy lover’s wine from Castro, with that crisp feel, silky texture and elegant mid-palate. It has some potential to improve further in the cellar. Drink now-2022."
