About

Rating:

90

Entrefaux's 2017 Crozes Hermitage smells like sun-warmed stones and herb-laced black olives. It's medium to full-bodied, with a velvety mouthfeel and long finish that picks up notes that resemble cola and dried spices. It should drink well for 4-5 years.

Product Description:

"Although the Tardy family has been growing grapes for generations, they only began to estate-bottle in 1979. They farm 25 hectares of vines: 21 hectares of Syrah and 4 hectares of Marsanne. The Marsanne grows on the historic hillsides of Mercurol, an appellation that was once as highly sought after (and costly) as Montrachet. The Syrah vineyards are on the pebbly limestone terrace of Les Chassis, thought to be among the best sectors within Crozes-Hermitage. The vines average 30 years of age and yields are kept at a modest 40 hectoliters/hectare. The family has been practiciing organic farming for a number of years and earned organic certification in 2012. The grapes are hand harvested, 100% de-stemmed, and fermented with natural yeasts. This is northern Rhone Syrah that over-delivers on every level...just the way we like it! " - Importer
