Rating:

"This begins with lovely aromas of lemon, gooseberries, kiwi followed by hints of dried herbs. On the palate it is well balanced and with lively acidity, ending with a clean finish. An easy going, straightforward Sauvignon Blanc that is drinking nicely today."

Product Description:

The AOC of Touraine hugs the Loire River as it winds itself through the valley heading east to the Atlantic. Soils here are diverse - everything from flint to clay to limestone - and help provide the perfect conditions for growing the predominant white varietal of the area: Sauvignon Blanc.

The upfront fruit component on the 2018 L'Escarpe is what you'd expect: lemon, kiwi, papaya, and even some green melon. But the backbone of this wine is all about acidity and minerality; the former is mouthwateringly gorgeous, and the latter gives you the sensation of walking through the soils barefoot. This wine is versatile enough to be a poolside aperitif in warm weather, or it can stand up to a 10-course meal.

This is a tremendous expression of Sauvignon, and at under $20, is an outstanding buy!
