About

Product Description:

This wine is made from 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Semillon. The average age of the vines is 30 years. Each variety is fermented separately in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures. The wine is blended and bottled before the spring of the following year. Château Magneau is an ancient property that has been run by the Ardurat family since before the reign of Henri IV. It is located in the historic commune of La Brède where the Ardurats farm 41 hectares of land with deep gravelly soil with quick-drying black sand. Farming is done without the use of chemical insecticides and all harvesting is done by hand. Replanting is done using massale selection as the Ardurats have noted that their older clones are more resistant to disease and produce smaller berries that are phenolically ripe at lower alcohol levels. Yields for the whites are naturally low, without green harvesting, at 42-45 hl/ha. The Ardurats are a member of Terra Vitis, an organization that certifies the practice of sustainable agriculture as well as high standards for the wine’s vinification. Sustainable
