93Stephan Reinhardt - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2013 Sancerre Les Boucauds is Stéphane's most fruit-intense and accessible Sancerre. Sourced from 30- to 40-year-old vines from limestone soils on hillsides, and fermented completely in stainless steel to maintain the fruit and freshness, the 2013 reveals – on a chalky palate – fully ripe and precise aromas of rather yellow-fleshed than green fruits with just a dash of citrus. i.e. plums, quince, physalis, passion fruit and further tropical fruits as well as elderflower. Although it initially seems to be fruity and round on the palate this straight, pure and elegant, almost Riesling-like wine discloses its calcareous soul very soon and the persistent aftertaste is marked by both, a lingering salinity and an animating fruit and fine chiseled acidity. This is an outstanding Sancerre (although I am not sure I’d discover it as such in a blind tasting) and the best start into the very distinctive Sancerre world of Stéphane Riffault."
