"A dense, layered red with plum, orange-peel and mushroom aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, yet tight and polished with dusty, fine tannins and a flavorful finish. Needs bottle age to come together. From organically grown grapes. Try after 2024."

"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is dusty and understated upon opening, and it requires quite a bit of swirling to truly open up. Black cherries, lavender and hints of brown spice can be found in the glass. It impresses more with purity of fruit than texture or verve, showing notes of strawberry that slowly morph into cranberry, with fine tannins that slowly saturate. Tart red berries and licorice linger through the heavily structured finale. It will be interesting to watch this mature over the next three to five years, but it’s hard to say where it will be at that time."
