The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gemini shows a ripe yet earthy display of forest berries with spicy florals, notes of moist soil, crushed stone and hints of animal musk. On the palate, soft textures envelop the senses in a coating of sweet and sour red fruits and spice with a citrus twang, as tannins slowly mount, yet the Gemini maintains freshness beautifully through zesty acids and inner florals. The finish is long, turning more toward the youthfully tart side, with saturating spices and grippy tannins clenching the senses. It has many years to go before all of the elements come into balance, but once they do, pure beauty. I tasted the 2015 Gemini over the course of two days and it just kept getting better.
