"A fresh and aromatic Brunello with orange blossom and cherry and flower character. Medium to full body, firm and chewy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Better in 2020."

Product Description:

"Very intense ruby-red. Complex, full, persistent nose rich in spices with hints of vanilla and nuances of ripe berries. Elegant and harmonious palate with good tannins and long finish.

In the vineyard, Donatella Cinelli Colombini has been cultivating her grapes with organic methods since 2014 and will soon be receiving organic certification. In addition, she has made some recent upgrades at the winery including the use of cement tanks for fermentation. Instead of barriques in the cellar, Donatella Cinelli Colombini chooses to age her Brunello for at least two years in 500-litre tonneaux and then decants the wine into casks of 15 hl for further aging. Finally the wine will rest in bottle, which is essential for developing aromatic fullness. The distinctive element of Donatella's wines is their elegance: red harmonies that are able to last throughout time.

Donatella's wines have been widely praised by the press, especially in recent vintages. In 2016, she was one of four Brunello producers chosen to present at Wine Spectator's New York Wine Experience. This same year, the Merano Wine Festival gave gold medals to the 2012 vintage of both Donatella's Brunello and Brunello Progetto Prime Donne.

This wine comes from the 2 small vineyards of 13 hectares each which surround the 16th century building, Casato "Prime Donne.” Among the barrels are frescoes of the history of Montalcino. This award-winning wine undergoes regular alcoholic fermentation lasting 15 days. The wine is aged for at least three and a half years in oak barrels and tonneaux." - Winery
