The 2011 'Vallocchio' is absolutely outstanding. It displays an opaque dark ruby color, followed by complex aromas of dried cherries and dark plums which are layered with sweet spice, floral, leather, dark chocolate and licorice. Full, rich and silky on the palate, with fine tannins and excellent overall structure and depth. It remains beautifully balanced and focused all the way through long, polished finish. A remarkable effort which is already offering so much. (Best 2018-2031)

With fruit sourced from the Castelnuovo dell'Abate subzone, the 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Vallocchio is a plump and delicious wine that bursts open with bright red berry, cherry and blackberry. The bouquet is soft, seamless and packed tight with gorgeous intensity. This is a delicious wine and I enjoyed the 2011 version over the highly applauded 2010 vintage. The alcohol is high (at 15.5%) and the wine is not too profound or complex. But it definitely offers an extremely enjoyable and approachable style that can be consumed shortly after the wine is released. Drink date 2017-2028

Here's a big, hearty wine that opens with aromas of underbrush, tilled soil, truffle, stewed black-skinned fruit and a whiff of menthol. The palate offers blackberry jam, cherries marinated in spirits, coffee, mocha and a confectionary note alongside the warmth of evident alcohol. It's already rather evolved and accessible, with velvety tannins.
"Deep ruby red with garnet nuances. The nose boasts fruit aromas of cherry and plum; blueberry jam accompanied by fresh spices, tobacco and licorice. The round palate displays an incredibly dense suite of firm and sweet tannins which lend structure and power without being astringent."- Winery
