The flagship white from this incredible estate is a more Roussanne-dominated blend that also includes Grenache Blanc and Clairette, brought up in used demi-muids. The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Prestige Blanc will certainly be one of the whites of the vintage. It reveals a medium gold hue as well as a killer nose of caramelized pineapple, ripe white peach, white flowers, salty minerality, and a touch of toasty barrique. With full-bodied richness, a grand cru Burgundy-like texture, no hard edges, and a monster of a finish, this serious, opulent, powerful white will benefit from a year in bottle and drink nicely for 15-20 years or more. While the 2018s from this great estate are gorgeous wines that show the charming, elegant style of the vintage, the 2019s are a clear step up, and my money is on them being some of the wines of the vintage.
