Stephan Reinhardt - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2015 Oberemmel Hütte Riesling Spätlese is clear, fresh and very fine on the well-defined and flinty nose. Clear, fresh and piquant on the palate, this is a highly delicate, light, lush and piquant Spätlese. It has a long, fresh and mineral but also aromatic, highly finessed and mouthwatering salty finish with just 7% alcohol.
Tasting the new vintage with Max von Kunow is always like opening a surprise...the Hütte Spätlese is absolutely gorgeous."

"A gorgeous nose hints at botrytis participation in its faint whiffs of truffle and white bread allied to high-toned herbal extracts, white peach and pear. Luscious fruits and cooling herbal essences dominate the buoyant, subtly creamy yet animatingly juicy palate, leading to a finish that features supportive, impeccably balanced sweetness and terrific transparency to underlying wet stone as well as to tingling herbal and mineral nuances. “This represents exactly how I conceive of Spätlese,” reported von Kunow. I’ll second that!
“Everything clicked,” reported Max von Kunow of 2015. “We had picture-perfect, fully ripe clusters..." Some insights into the many changes in recent years at this estate, including its expansion, are offered in the introduction to my coverage of its 2014s. But a restless and ambitious young von Kunow continues to explore his options, so there are stylistic surprises year by year. His distinctively delicious approaches to Grosses Gewächs this vintage go hand in hand with continued respect for Riesling of hidden or discreet sweetness and a proselytizer’s zeal for Kabinett. Von Kunow did not bottle most of his 2015s until late spring, but then bottled the Grosse Gewächse by midsummer."
