Mark Squires - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:

"The 2014 Dry Riesling Reserve is, according to winemaker Fred Merwath, about 90% Auslese level in ripeness. It is a luscious Riesling that seems round and rich, but as with most of what Wiemer makes, there is ample attention here to age-worthiness and structure. Underneath, there is fine acidity that cuts through the dense fruit. Then, it never seems as rich again, eventually showing more and more power on the finish. This is something you can sink your teeth into–but it won't ever seem clumsy or simple. It is nowhere near peak as yet. Give it a few years in the cellar if you can. It is not meant to be drunk young. It may yet be entitled to an uptick.

"From top to bottom, oldies to new releases, this may well have been my single best tasting while up in the Finger Lakes. It wasn't my first trip to Wiemer, but it was certainly the most interesting. There were, to be sure, some close contenders and different points where I could argue the matter vis-a-vis other lineups. When all is said and done, though, this was simply a terrific array. The Wiemer winery and winemaker Fred Merwath are firing on all cylinders and have been for some time. This is one of the region's indisputable flagships - one of its greatest estates." June 2016

Kelli White - Vinous :

"The 2014 Reserve Dry Riesling is far more seamless on the palate than the basic Dry Riesling of the same vintage. The nose is a touch restrained at the moment, but offers up scents of ripe stone fruits, a kiss of lime, and wet river rocks. The palate offers impressive weight and richness—never heavy, instead it impresses with its great class and bearing. Fermentation lasted around 7 months. 8 grams per liter of residual sugar." July 2016

Wine Enthusiast:

"Seeming delicate at first, barely-there whiffs of lemon peel and green herb turn riper and sunnier on this dry, medium-bodied Riesling. The palate is quite unctuous, dripping with white peach and grapefruit nectar. A cool strike of steel extends from midpalate to finish, lending mineral elegance to this ripe, rich wine." Product Description:

"The finest qualities of the estate are expressed in our Reserve Dry Riesling, an exclusive wine spotlighting unique characteristics from all three of our vineyard sites. Small selections of grapes are meticulously chosen from specifically identified lots, which are fermented separately and then blended to create the exquisite balance of juiciness, freshness, and minerality displayed in this specialty bottling. A brilliant, tangy nose heralds a burst of stone fruit and citrus zest on the palate. Fruit and minerality play into a lingering finish that continues to make the mouth water long after the wine is gone." - Winery
