"Named for the dragon that supposedly fought against the sun in the Brand Grand Cru vineyard, this ripe wine is full of fruit and has a dense, tense structure that will need time to reach potential. It is driven by its mineral texture as much as the fruit, Drink from 2017." December 2014

"Aromas of dried lemon, peach and apple. Full-bodied, dry and spicy with hints of dried fruits. Long and flavorful. Drink now." September 2015

90 Wine Spectator

"Fresh and focused, with a clean, briny edge to the flavors of crunchy pear and white peach, lemon zest, stone and aromatic herb. This elegant version is subtle and finely meshed. Drink now through 2023. 330 cases made." October 2013

"From 44 year old vines, the 2012 Riesling Le Dragon comes from the southwest-facing slope of the Letzenberg, which is located in a sheltered area known locally as "Petit Senegal." Cultivated on yellow colored limestone soils, picked with 30 hectoliters per hectare, and fermented to 12% alcohol and 7 grams of unconverted sugar, the wine shows intense and concentrated white fruit and pineapple aromas on the nose, along with dried apples and white stone fruit flavors. Clearly richer and warmer on the nose than Le Kottage, the 2012 Dragon is a full-bodied, very mineral, and intense wine with good though still somewhat bitter tannin structure and a good tension in the finish. Expressive but still very young." October 2015

Product Description:

"Situated in Wintzenheim, Josmyer expands over 42 separate vineyard parcels of the Haut-Rhin such as Drachenloch, Herrenweg, Rotenberg and the grand cru sites of Hengst and Brand. Josmeyer was founded by Aloyse Meyer, who helped build a reputation of quality for the best local sites including the Hengst and Brand vineyards. The following generations continue to ardently promote quality wines and increase the esteem of this family run estate to its current position among the top echelon of Alsace producers. In the late nineties, Christophe Ehrhart fully converted the vineyards to organic and bio-dynamic viticulture. He believes that working in harmony with the sky, earth and the vines produces superb grapes which, in turn, give birth to balanced wines with distinctive personalities." - Importer
