92Stephan Reinhardt - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 1999 Saarburger Rausch Riesling Spätlese #9 offers a clear and spicy, as well as slightly minty bouquet of nutty-flavored bright fruits. Smooth and lush on the plate, this is a sweet and very elegant Spätlese, with a fine mineral acidity and an intense and persistent fruit complexity. Here is a very fine and tart tannin structure that I have always loved in the old Zilliken wines, whereas I miss them a bit in modern times. "1999 war a good botrytis year with a moderate acidity," says Hanno Zilliken, who compares 1999 with 2003--underlining that in 2003 the berries were rather healthily shriveled due to dryness. This wine should be go very well with Gorgonzola."
