Raymond Chan - Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
Deep, ruby-red with a purple hue, moderately transparent, lighter on edge. The nose is bright and softly full, aromas of red cherries, blackberries, lifted by spices and deep floral fragrance. Medium-bodied, nuances of red cherries, blackberries melded with dark herbs, violets, linger with black pepper to a succulent, sustained finish. The wine is youthful, displaying bright fruit with beautiful complexity of herb and spice. Fine-grained delicate extraction is silky on the palate, leaving an elegant impression. This is a pretty Pinot Noir with approachable fruit and a refined tannin structure. Match with roasted pigeon and lamb racks over the next 3-5 years. Fruit from Taylor River, Clone 115 fermented in batches with 15-30% whole bunch, 5-7 days cold-soaked, fermented to 14.3% alc, 7-15 days post-ferment maceration, aged in French oak barrels for 11 months, 30% new oak. 18.5+/20 pts
