"Reduction presently flattens the underlying fruit. Otherwise there is a really lovely texture to the medium weight plus flavors thanks to the abundance of mid-palate sap that coats the mouth and buffers the moderately firm, complex and lingering finish where a touch of wood emerges. This is very Charmes in style and like the Echézeaux, it should be approachable after 6 to 8 years if desired."

"Moderately saturated medium red. Wild aromas of briary raspberry, rose petal and spices complicated by hints of leather and underbrush. Fine-grained on entry, then a bit youthfully aggressive in the middle palate, with its flavors of raspberry, redcurrant and brown spices showing moderate depth and sweetness for grand cru. Notes of tobacco and dried flowers add complexity. Tannins are dusty and strong but just barely avoid dryness. This needs time, but does it have the inherent sweetness and silkiness to improve? My sample softened nicely with 24 hours in the recorked bottle."
