"Beautiful aromas and flavors of sandalwood, rose, strawberry and raspberry are married to an elegant, lacy frame. Intense, yet light-weight, with fine complexity and a long, fruit- and spice-filled aftertaste. Best from 2015 through 2035. 150 cases imported."

"The 2009 Clos des Lambrays is ripe, radiant and totally representative of the vintage. Silky tannins frame an expressive core of fruit in this generous, open Clos des Lambrays. The 2009 possesses striking depth and tons of richness allied to a muscular personality. I underestimated the 2009 when I tasted it from barrel. Although very much in the flashy style of the year, the 2009 also has more than enough structure to support mid-term aging at the very least. A round, caressing finish leaves a lasting impression."

"(producedfromtwolargeparcelsofdifferingvineage-onethatisapproximatelytwo-thirdsofthe blend and is now 45 years of age and a second, smaller group of vines that is approximately 20+ years of age; vinified with 100% whole clusters). An intensely floral and spicy nose that is wonderfully elegant and admirably pure speaks of red currant, blue berry, game, smoke and warm earth. The silky-textured, precise and mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors possess copious extract that does a fine job of buffering the very firm tannins and allowing for perfect balance on the mouth coating and impressively persistent finish. A seductive and relatively accessible Clos des Lambrays that should be approachable with only a decade of cellar time yet last for 25 to 40 years."

"The 2009 Clos des Lambrays continues to shine. The self-effacing Thierry Brouin has conjured an exquisite bouquet of wild strawberry, scorched earth, small red cherries and a touch of undergrowth. Brouin’s style is to keep everything contained, natural and unpretentious and so you get a comparatively conservative Clos des Lambrays that is underpinned by light, tensile tannins, with a veneer of red fruit, not great weight but rather weightlessness that is unusual for this vintage. It is in keeping with the domaine’s approach to Pinot Noir, one that I have learned to appreciate more and more with passing years. Tasted March 2013."

"Medium red. Enticing aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, game, crushed rock, pepper and brown spices. Silky on entry, then delineated and energetic in the middle in the context of the year, with intense pepper and spice character currently keeping the wine's fruit element under wraps. Finishes quite dry, with a fine dusting of tannins and a hint of youthful bitterness. This calls for a good eight to ten years of cellaring. (I was unable to taste the estate's premier cru, which manager Thierry Brouin told me was sold out.)"

Product Description:

"In the words of Michel Bettane, the Clos des Lambrays is an extraordinary terroir, capable of giving wines that, in generosity of savour and length rival the greatest. It is, as wine maker Thierry Brouin pointed out to me, and shows on the palate, the most "Morey" of all the Grand Crus of that appellation - the terroir really comes through. In the vinification, too, Brouin captures this - a long fermentation, no de-stemming, and 50% new allier Oak. The wines are unfined, only the last sixth of each barrel is then lightly filtered (the rest are unfiltered), and starting with '94 our selection, completely unfined and unfiltered." - Importer

"The largest part of the vineyards consists of very old vines, the plants of the CLOS DES LAMBRAYS vineyard are on average 40 years. This average age includes the 2,45 ha replanted in 1980 and the annual grafting carried out with the best vine-stocks and clones of Pinot Noir (114, 115, 272).

The plantation density of the vines (10.000 - 12.000 vines/hectare) is the optimum to get the best quality and the old vines, which needs a special care, remain preserved. The average yield is 31 hectolitres per hectare." - Winery
