"The Broccardo 2016 Barolo Bricco San Pietro (with fruit from a four-hectare site in Monforte d'Alba with silt, clay and limestone sand) offers a robust and dark core of fruit with background renderings of spice, smoke and tar. This expression is heavier and denser in texture compared to the other new Barolo releases from Laura Broccardo and her family. The wine is also more stable or firmly rooted on the palate. Some Baroli are ethereal and light, but this expression is more powerful and grounded. There is a touch of sour cherry on the close. It ages in oak for two years followed by more time in bottle. Some 4,500 bottles will be released in September 2020."
