About

Rating:

"Multifaceted aromas of ripe plum, bright red berry, leather and underbrush jump from the glass. The intense palate delivers crushed red cherry alongside notes of black pepper, clove, sage, mint, licorice and balsamic notes. It has great energy thanks to brisk acidity and decisive tannins. Drink 2020–2040."

Product Description:

We couldn't wait to get this in the building!

Why? For 2 Reasons:

1) - The Vintage - This is a tremendous vintage for fans of Barolo ... and on top of that, a terrific vintage to start to explore what these wines are really all about! If you have a ton of Barolo in your cellar, this is a no brainer to add. If not, this is exactly the kind of wine (and vintage) to grab!

2) - The score - The 95 Point review really says it all "Multifaceted aromas of ripe plum, bright red berry, leather and underbrush jump from the glass. The intense palate delivers crushed red cherry alongside notes of black pepper, clove, sage, mint, licorice and balsamic notes. It has great energy thanks to brisk acidity and decisive tannins. Drink 2020–2040." WE. We thought this was a spectacular example of everything 2010 can deliver ... and more!!

Beppe Colla is Barolo’s founding father of the modern day ‘Cru’ (single vineyard) system in Barolo, so when Giuseppe Mascarello and Bruno Giacosa list their Cru-level Barolo on wine lists for hundreds of dollars per bottle (and sometimes more!), you can secretly thank Beppe Colla. Colla took seismic steps to produce the first Cru-level bottling with the 1961 Prunotto Barolo Bussia. Minds were blown at the time because it was a bold statement to sell the Cru at a higher price on its own merits, but it was a game changer, and the entire region advanced.

2010 Barolo: A modern day classic
Critics have come out of the woodwork to taste, review and score 2010 Barolo, and their consensus was unanimous — this is an epic vintage, whose signature soaring aromatics, profound flavor profile and age-worthy structure is as exciting as it gets for Italian wine. Antonio Galloni was among the first to raid the flag with his reviews, raving about the region’s phenomenal releases. Once again, Barolo has been firmly positioned as a must-have for collectors everywhere, lining up Barolo as invaluable to fans of everything ranging from Napa Cab to Burgundy.

And what about this single Cru called Bussia?
Wines from the single vineyard Bussia, in the southern sub-zone of Monforte d’Alba, are known for their potent structure and big, bold, richly textured flavors. They also tend to produce the region’s most age-worthy wines with inexplicable concentration. Amazing. Home to luminaries such as Aldo Conterno and Prunotto, it’s no surprise we were so excited by today’s offering, especially considering the deal on this offer.
