“The B Minor Mourvedre Grenache Shiraz is a single vineyard wine from old vines at the Mitchelton vineyard in Nagambie Lakes (30-35 years old) some of the best grenache and mourvedre in Victoria in my experience, and some of the oldest riverine soils in Australia. This prior riverine landscape has wonderfully rich and healthy red loams with a range of minerals interspersed. Approx 40km East of Heathcote, some similarities can be seen, yet this site being planted on the riverbanks of the Goulburn River has something a little bit different and distinct. I used to make a wine at Mitchelton called “Crescent” from this fruit and was always one of my favourite wines. So much fragrance, wonderful flow and a delicious, silky chocolatey structure. Pretty and earthy and equal measure, and with wonderful layers. These wines always aged really well too – but for B Minor I wanted to make a more hands-off interpretation that was delicious to drink young and fresh. I know this wine will evolve really nicely too, as you can already see in the glass over a period of time how much is unveiled.” –Ben Haines
