"The Malbec from Chacayes now carries the name of the vineyard, so I tasted the 2017 Finca Mantrax Malbec. It's from a project where they experiment with pure Malbec from different locations, fermenting and aging it in concrete eggs to respect in the wines the character of the varietal and the place. This is a great varietal representation with good ripeness but without any excess and with the aromas of the place—wildflowers and herbs that add a very showy note to those of the grape. It has very good finesse and balance within the powerful style of the place and vintage. 4,000 bottles were filled in December 2018."
