90Mark Squires - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Mark Squires - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2015 Loureiro Muros Antigos Escolha is dry and comes in at 12% alcohol. It is sourced from the Lima Valley sub-region associated with Loureiro. This is marvelous this year. It takes the wonderful Pássaros Loureiro, also reviewed, and then adds a little more depth and focus. It is a somewhat different terroir, I'm told. While they both come from the Lima sub-region, the Pássaros is on the slopes, while the vineyard for Muros is in the valley. The soils are slightly different as well. They are both super bargains, in any event. This is not yet as open and as expressive as the sunnier Pássaros, but it will eventually catch up. The fine acidity lifts everything here and creates a juicy, mouthwatering finish. In some ways, this is a delicate wine, ethereal and light-bodied, although very precise. It is not meant to be a warm climate Chardonnay, of course. Loureiro will never be fat or bombastic, but it can be something you can drink all night and never tire of. It will linger longer than you thought and impress you more each time you go back to it." —Mark Squires, The Wine Advocate
