"Not bottled until April, 2018 this represents the wine formerly labeled for the Brunnberg vineyard but now simply with the word for “springs.” There is a hint of yeastiness in the nose even when tasted in September, 2018. Behind that come Latakia tobacco smokiness, mint, basil, iris and an aura of crushed stone. The palate is polished and glycerol-rich yet also generously juicy; the impressively-sustained finish invigorating in its evocation of pea tendril and white pepper, coolingly green-herbal, and intriguingly mineral. Salomon points out that this fifty year-old vineyard reflects an old massale selection from his grandfathers, Josef Jamek and (the first) Fritz Salomon which he feels promotes less fruitiness “but a more fascinating and perhaps less easy-to-understand or –appreciate side of Grüner Veltliner.”"
