Blackberry and black-cherry notes are marked by savory tones of bramble, licorice and wet earth in this wine. It's ample and opulent yet balanced by a fresh, mineral midpalate and firm, gripping tannins. Although enticing now for its primary, youthful fruit, the dense tannins and savory complexities should improve through 2035.

"I always love the wines of this estate, & unquestionably the 2016 Chateauneuf-du-Pape is the finest vintage of this cuvee to date. About as classic as it gets, with tons of cedarwood, white pepper, kirsch, & blackberry fruits, it smells like a classic southern France street market. Full-bodied, powerful, & concentrated, with the purity of fruit that makes this vintage so special, it’s a blockbuster wine that’s already approachable yet will keep for 15+ years". ---Jeb Dunnuck

"Ripe & youthfully compact, this features waves of raspberry pate de fruit, plum coulis & cassis flavors rolling through, flecked with mouthwatering anise, apple wood & rooibos tea notes. The long finish shows very finely beaded acidity embedded throughout, letting the fruit unfurl wonderfully. Best from 2020 through 2040. 3,500 cases made".

Vivid ruby-red. Highly perfumed red and dark berry liqueur, incense and Asian spice aromas show excellent clarity and pick up a suave floral nuance with air. Supple, open-knit and juicy on the palate, offering deeply concentrated black raspberry, cherry cola and floral pastille flavors and an exotic touch of five-spice powder. The floral quality repeats strongly on a smooth, impressively persistent finish that shows just a hint of supple, fine-grained tannins.
