The 'Serre de la Garde' is a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah which delivers aromas of raspberries and plum along with spices, white pepper, lavender and wet stones which all come together in the glass. Medium/full bodied and racy, structured around a fine, silky texture which carries on through the finish.

Product Description:

"Serre de la Garde is a lieu-dit (named vineyard) with chalky clay soils on NW-facing slopes in the south of the appellation. 40 year-old Grenache and Syrah vines thrive on these clay and limestone pebbly slopes, reaching deep into rocky soils to the underlying clay for nutrients, and ideally located in a Mediterranean climate with low rainfall and lots of sunshine.

The result is a brilliant minerality in the final wine, alongside a remarkably pleasing fruit presence, with generous helpings of blueberry and wild raspberry aromas mingling with characteristic garrigue spices. Consulting winemaker Philippe Cambie, named in 2010 as Winemaker of the Decade by Robert Parker, is the driving force behind the wine’s style. The wine’s name comes from Saint Roman-de-MaleGarde, a former Knights Templar outpost.

Domaine Fond Croze is the culmination of the work of three generations of the Long Family. Charles Long first purchased the land after returning from World War I. His son, Raymond, expanded the vine-yards once he started full-time in the business. Today, his sons Bruno (the winemaker) and Daniel (the vineyard manager) produce wine at Domaine Fond Croze, which Raymond, Bruno, and Daniel began officially in 1997. It’s truly a family business – any and all of the family is likely to be at the cave when you go to visit." - Importer
