James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
For its high level of concentration, this fabulous Fleurie has a surprisingly sleek, medium-bodied palate. Great elegance and fine tannins keep this cool and precise all the way through the long, velvety finish. Right at the end, there’s a wonderful burst of the sour and black-cherry aromas that are so pronounced on the nose. Mostly whole-cluster fruit to maximize the freshness. Drink or hold.
Product Description:
The history of DOMAINE ANITA is fairly recent in Beaujolais. This wine estate located in Chénas, near Mâcon , and created in 2015, cultivates 6 appellations in the south of Burgundy: Moulin à Vent, Morgon, Chénas, Fleurie, Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages. Discover the entire history of the vineyard and its creator, Anita Neveu. "From 1996 to 2015, I discovered and learned the craft of vine and wine on the family farm and during professional training in Beaune, then in Dijon. I also learned a lot from winegrowers, knowledgeable tasters, and my oenologist.
It was in 2015 that I created my own farm, DOMAINE ANITA. Located in Chénas, it cultivates 6 appellations on exceptional terroirs: Moulin à Vent, Morgon, Chénas, Fleurie, Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages. Viticulture respecting the codes of sustainable agriculture is implemented on each plot in order to obtain high-quality wine production .On granite soils, where Gamay finds its preferred soil, the wine estate has chosen to maintain a high planting density to optimize the quality of the grapes : small berries, thick skins, rich pulp.
Passionate about winemaking , I have focused on producing single-plot vintages from the beginning . Thus, from harvest to bottling, the identity of each plot is respected, offering a diversity of character in each of them.
The famous "Reine de Nuit" Windmill was a precursor to this concept: a small plot, a true gem, which was the first to benefit from special attention in order to reveal the extraordinary potential of its terroir.
In 2013, destemmed harvest vinification was experimented with. The result was breathtaking, giving birth to the "Cœur de Vigneronne" cuvée.Today, the Domaine is surrounded by a close-knit team of winegrowing employees to carry out all the manual work.
The wines are sold in different market sectors (50% for export, 30% to the CHR in France, 20% to individuals) with recent development in export.
The Domaine's next objectives are to develop viticulture that is even more respectful of the soil , to assert a more advanced style of winemaking and to increase export sales.
