"Bright violet. Highly expressive, pure aromas of fresh dark berries, candied flowers and minerals. Sweet, seamless and expansive on the palate, offering concentrated blackberry, cherry and spicecake flavors that show surprising vivacity for their depth. Effortlessly plays power off finesse and finishes very long and sappy, revealing a lingering violet flourish and noteworthy clarity."

"The 2015 Morgon les Charmes was bottled on the same day as the 2015 Régnié this year but underwent a longer carbonic maceration of approximately 12 days. Apparently the laboratory readings showed there was only a gram of sugar left after pressing, however Jean-Marc felt that it still tasted sweet. It transpired that it was actually originating from the glycerol produced during the fermentation. It has a taut, well defined bouquet at first but leave it two minutes and it develops into a showy, almost ostentatious bouquet with layers of kirsch, eau-de-vie, fig jam and licorice. The palate is sweet on the entry: very supple, thick tannins that are covered by a viscous texture and there is plenty of glycerin on the finish. I would not broach this for 4-5 years but it could well turn out to be an amazing Morgon Les Charmes.

As expected, Jean-Marc produced a consistently strong portfolio in 2015...His 2015s embrace the opulence of the vintage but step back from excessive alcohol levels and retain impressive freshness, thereby allowing the terroirs to shine through. Prices are extraordinarily reasonable given what is inside the bottle..."
