We have our good friend winemaker Alessandro Gallici to thank for this superb, elegant white. He introduced our Buyer to the estate, knowing the wines were outstanding and had never been seen abroad, despite wines from the estate receiving over 90 points from Wine Spectator. Castello di Spessa dates from the 13th century and was the home of Friulian aristocracy. The estate was bought by the Pali family in 1987, who have invested in all aspects of the property. The region is mountainous, so bright clear sunshine is tempered by moderate temperatures and cold nights - perfect for whites. Made from native Friulano aged on its lees, this white has creamy pear, citrus and almond character - enjoy with prosciutto e melone, seafood and veal dishes.
