About

Product Description:

"There is already so much diversity within the category of sparkling wine and more and more new producers are pouring into the market at a high rate (pun semi-intended). Our goal with the bubbles, as with all our selections, is to offer something with broad appeal and versatility that will be suitable for any occasion. So you won?t have to take too much time when you are in the store looking for a delicious sparkling wine, just pick up a bottle of our Sparkling Wine of the Year: Domaine de L?echelette Cremant de Bourgogne NV Domaine de L?echelette is in the tiny and very picturesque commune of La Chapelle-Sous-Brancion inside Burgundy?s Mâconnais Region. The buildings that comprise the current domaine are from the late 19th century and are in a U-Shape, inspired by many 17th century Renaissance Châteaux. The winery overlooks green rolling hills, with grazing sheep and cows. With your back to the beautiful vineyards, and their leaves reflecting the golden sun you look down, mid-valley to the Chateau de Nobles, a beautiful castle from the 14th century. The Domaine has been a family business for 35 years; it was built 130 years ago, for producing wine. Unfortunately, the production of wine decreased rapidly at the end of the 19th century as phylloxera rapidly decimated a majority of the vineyards. It was only in 1976 ?one century after its creation ? that Michel Champliaud bought it and gave the vineyard their life back. The vineyard is now shared between three villages and is made up of vines between 7 and 57 years. The vines thrive in Burgundy?s famous argilo-calcareous (clay-limestone) soil. M. Champliaud is proud to consciously follow the wine producing tradition of Burgundy, and works very rigorously to satisfy the high-quality standards he sets for himself in growing and managing the vineyard as well as in producing wine. Each wine results from a year of hard work and reflects the love and care the winegrowers ? give to the vineyard day after day, month after month and year after year. Tasting Note: Allowing the assembly of several grape varieties in varying proportions, it mainly allows marriage of two noble grape varieties: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Chardonnay brings an indispensable acid to the wine. The Pinot Noir, meanwhile, gives fruit and finesse. Together, there is a brioche and toasted bread note on the nose reminiscent of Champagne. The bright bubbles tickle your tongue followed by lovely tropical fruit notes that are balanced and long as the flavors linger on your taste buds. It will be difficult to find another wine at this price to replicate the complexity and flavor of L?echelette Cremant de Bourgogne. Cheers!" -Importer
