Joe Czerwinski - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Chardonnay Carneros is a slightly buttery, toasty effort marked by lots of pear fruit. Barrel fermented in 34% new French oak, it's medium to full-bodied, with a rich, viscous, creamy mouthfeel, then adds bright, citrusy notes and butter again on the finish. It's very good, albeit in a certain (dated? retro?) idiom.
