"The 2014 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast ) is an attractive, appealing wine. Orchard fruit, gentle apricot, spice and almond notes meld together in an effortless, gracious white that hits all the right notes. This is a gorgeous Sonoma Coast Chardonnay to drink over the next handful of years.

"These are the first wines I have tasted from Smith Story. Ross Cobb and Katy Wilson make the wines for industry veterans Eric Story and Alison Smith-Story in a style that emphasizes freshness and energy." January 2016

Product Description:

"Bright with acidity but lush with fruit, making it an elegant cool climate finessed Chardonnay. Its medium-bodied texture is layered with honeyed notes which lift the flavors of tropical fruit and Meyer lemon. The barrel (neutral French oak) fermentation lends to a mid-palate creaminess that finishes fresh and clean." - Winery

"Sustainable. Sourced from a vineyard located in the southeast portion of the Sonoma Coast appellation bordering Sonoma Valley, providing a mild climate of warm days and cool nights. As inland temperatures rise during the day, moist air over the cold Pacific is drawn inland from the San Pablo Bay, cooling temperatures from mid afternoon into evening. Soil is a mix of loamy and clay soils. The grapes were picked at night and went straight to press. After pressing and a gentle settling, the juice went into neutral French barrels for fermentation. Fermentation was slow and cool with minimal stirring. They allowed the wine to go partially through malolactic fermentation. Aged on the lees for 11 months and then bottled. 240 cs produced." - Winery
