Moving to the wines from bottle, the 2017 Asterisk offers a dense purple hue as well as a sweet nose of crème de cassis, mulberries, brambly herbs, chocolate, and toasted spices. Fruit-forward and charming, it still has ample mid-palate depth, ripe tannins, and beautiful balance. I don't think it's going to make terribly old bones, but it's going to drink beautifully for at least 15-20 years.

Plum with some mushroom, bark and cedar on the nose, following through to a medium to full body with polished, firm tannins and a delicious, juicy finish. Normally half merlot and cabernet franc. Drink now or hold.

The 2017 Asterisk is a soft, easygoing wine that will drink well right out of the gate. The 2017 naturally doesn’t have the richness that is typical here, but it does offer terrific balance. In this vintage, Aasterisk has more of a red-toned fruit profile that matches its mid-weight feel quite nicely.
