Antonio Galloni - Vinous
"The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is just as magnificent from bottle as it was from barrel. Vertical and towering in feel, the 2016 has so much to offer. In this tasting, the 2016 reminds me of the 2013, but with more fruit slightly friendlier tannins, both of which make it a real pleasure to taste, even in the early going. All of the savory and mineral character that makes Farella such a distinctive site runs through this vivid, super-expressive Cabernet. Don't miss it."

"The deep and complex nose, which is full of savory, ripe-plum and wet-earth aromas, makes this cabernet stand out in the Napa pack. Then the rich, but finely nuanced palate slowly opens up its spicy secrets. There’s a ton of tannins in here, but they’re beautifully crafted and give the wine serious complexity. Then, the hint of bitterness at the finish adds even more vitality. Try to wait until at least 2021."

"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is intensely scented of crushed red and black currants, warm black plums and fresh blackberries with touches of violets, wild thyme, cigar box and cardamom plus a waft of dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, the palate is completely packed with crunchy black berry flavors and tons of herbal sparks, with a rock-solid, grainy line of tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing long and perfumed."

"This sports a slightly burly mix of sage, rosemary and menthol notes amidst a core of steeped currant and bitter plum fruit flavors. Roasted cedar and fresh tobacco leaf details score the finish. If Fernet-Branca were a wine, this would be it. Distinctive, but not for everyone. Best from 2020 through 2028. 250 cases made. -JM"
