This recently released vintage came from an early harvest with lighter yields. Made with estate fruit from Groth's 27.78-acre Reserve Block, the Cab aged 22 months in barrel & 14 months in bottle before it was released this past October. Perfumed red peony & roses along with tilled soil generate a garden party on the nose. Structured & mighty, dusty cocoa & ripe plum lead to a sweetly spicy mid-palate of sage & cedar. It's reminiscent of a Grand Cru Bordeaux, albeit with some extra sunshine.
Deep, concentrated nose bursting with ripe black fruit concentration and herbal undertones. Fresh fruit palate, with a touch of oak spice and violets.

This shows real interest on the nose with fresh blackcurrants, ivy, tea leaf, vanilla, cloves & peppermint. Freshness comes through aplenty on the palate, which is full-bodied with structured if chewy tannins, some pretty acidity & a driven finish. Blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot. Drink in 2020.

The 2015 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon from Groth begins with inviting aromatics of dark currants and ripe cherries are woven together with pencil shavings, sweet spices, vanilla and hints of anise all taking shape. On the palate this possesses a medium-full body with a lovely soft, plush texture as layers of ripe dark fruits continue to lead up to the finish. The 2015 is quite accessible at the stage and should continue to drink well over the course of the next decade.
"The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of Cabernet Sauvignons grown in our area of the Oakville AVA. The sweet vanilla character derived from 22 months in the barrels blends well with the black cherry and blackberry flavors and aromas of the wine." - Winery
