About

96-100

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane is my favorite again of this grouping and has the potential to be a perfect wine, which is really hitting the bull’s-eye in 2014. Plenty of gravelly notes, blueberry, blackberry and mulberry jump from the glass of this inky bluish purple-colored 2014 Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The good news is that there are 1,200 cases of this, compared to only 752 cases in 2013. It should drink well for 15-20 years. ”

Amazing aromas of Chinese spices, sweet tobacco, incense, anise and dark fruits. Full-bodied, yet tight and reserved. Great density and polish. An entrancing wine. Lasts for minutes on the palate. Already a dream to drink but will improve magnificently.

“Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard reveals notes of blackberry preserves and blueberry compote with chocolate box, star anise, sandalwood, dried meat and black loam nuances. The full-bodied palate is earthy and muscular, with a solid frame of ripe, grainy tannins and just enough freshness to support the taut earthy and savory flavors, finishing on a lingering spicy note. ” — Lisa Perrotti-Brown

93-96 Antonio Galloni - Vinous

“A typical wine for the vintage, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard offers tons of energy and vibrancy, but today it is incredibly wild and not fully formed. A wine that still has a long time to go, the 2014 is a wine for the future. The brisk, salivating finish is pretty inviting though, even at this early stage. ” — Antonio Galloni

95 Wine Spectator

“Pure and rich, with an intense core of blackberry, boysenberry, black licorice, crushed rock and seductive spicy, mocha-laced oak. This zooms, glides, twists and turns, offering a fascinating array of flavors and textures. Best from 2020 through 2038.—J.L. ”
