Ian Dagata - Vinous Media
"Good bright ruby. Enticing primary aromas of blueberry, flint, violet, and cocoa, plus a hint of sexy cedar. Sweet, dense and primary on the palate, showing very refined floral lift and intense minerality to the dense red plum and cassis flavors. Finishes fresh, juicy and gripping, featuring a strong saline nuance, substantial fine-grained tannins and terrific length. Truly outstanding wine in the context of the year."

"This is admittedly a weaker vintage, but the 2014 Montevetrano sails forth with its characteristic confidence and determination nevertheless. The wine is composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Aglianico and 20% Merlot, and the aging process takes the finished wine through 14 months in French oak. Some 25,000 bottles were produced. This is a complete and generous wine with dark fruit nuances followed by spice, tar and campfire ash. Like the Aglianico Core, this wine shows a unique point of exotic or Indian spice."
