Muted at first, this reserve wine shows a deft hand. A red currant tone is met by a mild grip of tannins and a soft midpalate that is lightly rich in coconut shavings and mocha. Supple and balanced in richness, it offers classic flavors of cassis and cherry wrapped in supportive oak.

The 2014 Napa Valley Reserve is a gorgeous which wine begins with profound aromatics of crème de cassis, sandalwood, anise & mocha all taking shape. The texture on the mid-palate mouthfeel remarkable, as flavor of crème de cassis, black cherry reduction, anise & Black Forest cake complete this gorgeous Cabernet. While this is outstanding now, try to resist this gorgeous wine for at least another year. (Best 2018-2033) - December, 2017 (OB)

Aromas of dark berry, fresh-cut herbs, cedary oak and gravelly earth are tight and well-centered. Still raw and edgy, but nothing a year or two won't resolve. Patience required. Best from 2020 through 2033.
From the Winemakers' Website: All the Cabernet Sauvignon is from our 27.78-acre Reserve Block here at the Estate. In these vineyards, we do a pre-veraison cluster thinning followed by two post-veraison cluster thinning. Cabernet Sauvignon clusters are night harvested, allowing the fruit to remain cool for sorting & cold soak. Clusters are initially sorted in the field followed be a secondary hand sort at the winery. They are then de-stemmed & the grapes are mechanically sorted assuring only the best berries go into each small fermentation lot. The must is cold soaked for up to three days prior to inoculation. After fermentation is complete, barrel aging takes place in our dedicated, dual-level Reserve barrel rooms. Barrel lots are aged separately for 8 months, blended, & the final blend is then aged for an additional 14 months. The 2014 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for a total of 22 months in 100% new French oak barrels. Tasting Notes: Intense deep garnet in the glass, this Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of sweet plum & black cherry, complemented by oak spice notes of nutmeg, anise & vanilla. A smooth entry on the palate builds quickly into lush, ripe, dark cherry & black currants, backed up with sweet oak & an excellent tannin structure
