Raymond Chan - Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
Very full, deep, black-ruby colour with garnet hues on the rim. The nose is softly concentrated and tightly packed with deep aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry fruit entwined with a soft layering of herbs and mint and subtle, savoury earth and cedary elements. The aromatics are a little reserved in expression. Full-bodied, the palate is well bound with a rounded core of ripe blackcurrant fruit with cassis liqueur, harmoniously intermixed with herb, earth and cedary oak detail. The fruit is supported by soft, grainy tannin extraction and fresh, balancing acidity, and the wine carries smoothly to a soft, restrained finish. This is a softly concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon with restrained blackcurrant fruit with cassis and herb notes, and a soft, smooth, well-structured palate. Match with herb-marinated lamb over the next 5-6+ years. McLaren Vale fruit fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged in seasoned French oak. 17.0+/20
