2013 Premiere Napa Valley The Grade Cabernet Sauvignon 10
currant, blackberry, cherry, bell pepper, olive, asparagus, spice, ginger, oak and vanilla
currant, blackberry, cherry, cedar and cigar box
"This one completely surprised us, and blew us away at the same time. Made by the hottest name in Napa Valley, Thomas Rivers Brown, this is an eye popping project from the foot of Mount St. Helena in Calistoga. Owner Thomas Thornton is clearly on the right path, as his 2012 efforts also blew Parker away, who rated their 2 Cabernets 97 and 99 points. TRB clearly knew the direction to take these wines, as the alluvial soils have a lot to impart in this wonderfully juicy and lively Cabernet. Loaded with mouthcoating, rich texture that many of the top Napa wines are known for, this wine reveals layer after layer after layer of gorgeous fruit interwoven with great terroir as well. This is clearly a new world style wine, but has so much extra character to it that you know that you are dealing with an extremely high quality winemaker. It's no wonder everyone is seeking out Thomas Brown. It's projects like this that will being mentioned alongside TRB's most notable client (Schrader) in the next few years when speaking of Thomas' best projects."
