"Remember this name- Benoit Touquette. You are going to hear this name a lot over the next 12-24 months. Born in Bordeaux, Benoit had the great fortune of learning from one of the greatest winemakers of all time, Michel Rolland. Despite speaking very little English, Benoit fearlessly came to the US where he was almost immediately connected with another winemaking legend, Andy Erickson, who's resume is one of the most unreal you will ever see! (Screaming Eagle, Ovid and Dalla Valle, to name a few) Benoit has quickly made a name for himself and is now making wine for the Beckstoffer's new project, Kata, as well as ringing up 2 perfect scores with Robert Parker as the winemaker at Realm. Clearly a rock star in the making if you have caught the attention of the Beckstoffer's as well as Robert Parker! Hartwell (situated right across from Shafer in the Stag's Leap District) clearly has the right man for the job, as they are turning out gorgeous, sumptuous Cabernet that is brimming with complexity. These wines are remarkably precise and balanced, with great combo of rocky earth notes, savory secondary flavor and rich dark fruit character. This wine is the real deal, and definitely a winery to keep your eye on!"
