"The 2010 Maya is a less evolved, more backward, brooding wine with a dense opaque blue/purple color, explosive richness, and abundant notes of incense, camphor, charcoal, blackberries, blueberries and hints of violets and forest floor. Full-bodied, pure, deep, structured and powerful, this massive Maya comes across as even bigger and richer than the 2009. Forget it for 3-5 years and drink it over the following 30+ years. Following a significant replanting, Dalle Valle appears to have come back with an impressive group of wines. The proprietary red wine named after proprietress Naoko Dalla Valle’s daughter, Maya, used to be blended with 50-55% Cabernet Franc, but it is only about one-third of the blend over recent vintages.. One of the original cult wines of California, this brilliant wine has had enormous success since the mid- and late 1980s. The 2012s are typical for the vintage with lots of fruit, body and precocious, seductive personalities."
