"This chateau made a classic grand vin and the second wine is outstanding. Very rich and plummy on the nose. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and plenty of fruit on the finish. Serious concentration here. Second wine of Gruaud-Larose. Best after 2007. 21,665 cases made. -JS" (2003)

Product Description:

This is a terrific opportunity for those of you looking for large format/ready to drink blockbuster reds, and today's pedigreed, magnum offer hails from a trusted vintage AND impeccable producer!

We're talking about St Julien and offering MAGNUMS of 2000 Sarget de Gruaud Larose! This hails from the blockbuster 2000 vintage of Second Growth producer Chateau Gruaud Larose, a wine that is entering its prime drinking window right now!

Tasting Notes:
"The colour is brilliant and clear. The powerful nose reveals notes of roasting and leather. The second nose releases notes of jammy prunes. The mouth shows silky tannins, balance and freshness. Great aromatic persistency." - Winery

Vineyard:
"A plot that has remained under vines since the 18th century, without ever breaking with its viticultural vocation, deserves to be held in the highest esteem. Its worth remains undisputed among both yesterday's and today's winemakers. The average age of the vines of Gruaud Larose is about forty years, although the most ancient ones are almost a hundred years old. Time imposes humility. Claiming the exceptional is to be able to recognise the perfect harmony between the existence of a terroir and the quality of the grape varieties. The planted grape varieties are a daily and effective search for creation and harmony. Today, the Gruaud Larose vineyard is composed of the noble Bordeaux varieties, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (30%), Cabernet Franc (7%) and Petit Verdot (3%)." - Winery
