Bright ruby red with a shimmering core. Nose of white pepper, ras el-hanout, subtle earthy notes, rich wild berryish and cherry fruit, reminiscent of oranges on the finish. Grippy on the palate, with earthy, slightly loosely knit tannins, good depth, comes in several layers, nice length.
Product Description:
Pico Maccario is located in the small town of Mombaruzzo in the heart of Piedmont's Barbera d'Asti DOCG. In 1997, the brand was created by brothers Pico and Vitaliano after four generations of selling the family's grapes to other producers. They now own 70 hectares of contiguous vineyards, and a staggering 60 of those hectares are Barbera!
This is a classic Barbera d"Asti that every Italian wine lover will enjoy. Bright red fruit and soft tannins make it extremely approachable while maintaining a complexity that is rare at this price point.
