Located in Combe de Savoie, on the foothills of the Massif des Bauges, Domaine Vendange stretches over 10 organically farmed hectares, on south facing slopes of youthful glacial till / limestone scree. The Vendange family has been involved with the viticulture and agronomic industries for many years, and are one of the largest vine nurseries in the region. After studying viticulture and oenology in Beaune, Benjamin Vendange returned in 2015 to the family property. With his partner Diane Gounel, oenologist from Languedoc-Roussillon, the step was taken to start their own estate with the family’s holdings. This Altesse (aka Roussette) is from 20 year old vines, native fermented long and cool in stainless, with 1/3 going through MLF. This then rested 10 months in a mix of older barrels and stainless. Mountain herbs, meadow grass, hawthorne, and chamomile flood the chiseled palate, with a stony salinity that runs long on the finish. A characterful, charismatic alpine white. (Treve Ring). About Gismondi on Wine

Product Description:

Located in Combe de Savoie, on the foothills of the Massif des Bauges, Domaine Vendange extends over 10 hectares, on south facing slopes where the Savoyard grape varieties Jacquère, Altesse, and Mondeuse fully express their authentic typical aromas. Our vines flourish on the terroir of St Pierre d’Albigny, in the hamlet of Miolanet, within a radius of 1 km around the winery. Domaine Vendange Vins de Savoie - terroir et sols Our soils are among the youngest in the world Our vines grow within glacial moraine: just 15,000 years ago, the valley was a huge glacier! These really are young soils! And despite their youth, there are vast differences in the terroirs of our Miolanet parcels: limestone, scree, silty clay. The climate, in addition to the southern exposure for the vines on the slopes, helps to enhance the beautiful expression of terroir and to obtain optimum grape maturity. Domaine Vendange Vins de Savoie - travail de la vigne Work in the vineyards The Vendange family have been tending to their vineyards for a great many years, but Benjamin and Diane have now taken the bold step of actually vinifying their own production. We cultivate our vines using integrated agriculture practices, with the greatest respect for terroir and tradition. We focus on green harvesting as much as possible to stay as close as we can to our vines: pruning, disbudding, trellising, and leaf stripping, and we hand-harvest all our grapes at vintage. Domaine Vendange Vins de Savoie - vinification Vinification, the expression of terroir We own a modern vat house with 100% temperature-regulated stainless steel tanks, which allow us to work in the best possible conditions. We approach vinification by intervening as little as possible, to allow all the typical features of our terroir and the native grape varieties to shine through. We also decided to expose some of our wines to oak barrels, to enhance them with even greater complexity. Visual : a beautiful, clear and bright appearance with gold colour and green glints. Nose : with a brioche opening, the nose reveals an elegant expression where elegant fruit is accompanied by floral and spicy notes: biscuit, hawthorn, ripe pear and candied citrus fruit, ginger, green tea and musk. Palate : very intense and precise, the full mouth brings a lively and pleasing balance, underscored by concentration and minerality.
