About

Product Description:

Patrick Meyer, a non-conformist winemaker, took over the 9ha domaine from his mother in 1982, converted it to organic in 1985 and to biodynamics by 1995. This is a parcel called Mukenthal with soils made up of silt (more fertile than sand but also offers good drainage), and gravel. Comprised of 90% Sylvaner and 10% Riesling, the vines are about 40 years old here. Patrick vinifies this parcel in concrete tanks for 11 months before bottling. 2012 went well for the Alsatians. Volumes were roughly average, and quality was very pleasing, thanks to a warm, steady August and a cool, dry September that kept vineyards disease-free. Patrick feels that this wine is expressing a lot of attractive mineral notes and agrees that the vintage was what some may call “classic” so he’s quite pleased with the style and the freshness of this wine. The level of SO2 here is a TOTAL 8mg / l, with zero added. Biodynamic
